Sorry, but it's true! That's why I've taken a 3 month long hiatus! I just can't stand blogging, but have decided I need to get better at posting, even if it's just picts every now and then so that our family members that don't live near Avery can have a sneak peek at her growing up. That said, this post will not include picts, as always, my connection is slow and I have some major problems uploading picts. I'll work on that tomorrow. So, for now you'll have to settle with a basic run down of our lives.
Ricardo-commuting 2 hrs a day to Elmendorf has not been the highlight of his career so far. Yet, after house hunting for about 2 hours in places closer to work, he quickly decided the commute was not that bad. The prices were ludacris! So, he has resigned himself to 3 more years of commuting, then never again! He is still working hard and really enjoys his residency. It is not so demanding on time as most residencies go, he gets off on time almost every day. It's even light for 5 hours after he gets home now, so we've been able to get out and do stuff after work and that's been fun. We've also got big plans to build a house on our lot this summer, so we have worked hard on getting our plans drawn, thanks to my sister Rita and dad with their mad skills. Now that we have the floorplan done we are talking with builders and getting bids. We hope to be in the house by late fall, so we'll see how it all goes. We are super excited, I am already in heaven picking out everything from flooring to countertops! So much fun!
Avery- can you believe she will be 3 this Saturday? I cannot! I just keep thinking of her as my little baby and she quickly corrects me every time I call her that "I"m not a baby anymore! I'm Avry Wawen Wuff!" Avery Lauren Luff, for any of you that don't read three year old. She's a little sas, and is constantly busying herself with purses, riding her bike and singing one of the many songs she has committed to memory. Number one favorite being Katie Perry's Hot and Cold, with Love Story by Taylor Swift in close second. She also really likes the new Pink Song, don't know that name of that one, but it's so funny to hear her sing along to them when they come on the radio, and she's always requesting them when we are in the car, like I can just turn it on magically! Don't worry, she still likes age appropriate songs and can be heard belting out all the words to the Enchanted Sound Track and is particularly good at Beauty & the Beast songs too. Sooooo talented! She still loves Princesses, but has informed me she wants a diego birthday party with a rescue pack cake. This is fitting since she is constantly wearing her backpack and shouting "to the rescue" then running off to save the day! I think her boy cousins had something to do with persuading her away from the princess party theme too, I don't think they thought that would be very fun. Her cousin Ty is her best friend. They are 1 month apart and are so cute together. they have a love/hate relationship and I am breaking up a lot of fist fights, but most the time they play so good together. they even take naps together sometimes. On Sunday she would NOT go into Nursery, which is very unusual. She was so clingy and started crying and told me we had to wait for Ty. So we waited and waited, she was so sad and would not let go of me. Then the minute Ty walked in she ran to him and gave him a big hug and they were off to go play. So cute, I love that she is getting to know her cousins! And Aunts, Uncles, Grandma's, Grandpa's and the greats too! So much fun. She is really a big girl too. She has been in4T for a while but is growing out of those and into 5 T. I can't believe how big she is! She is breaking my back and I feel like Angelina Jolie carrying her around all the time! People probably think I'm toting my 6 year old on my hip! She really is so cute and fun though. She is getting really creative with excuses for not going to bed or naps- the other night she was crying and I went to see what was wrong and she told me her papa was lost in the woods and she had to go find him. Hmm, someone's been watching a bit too much Beaty & the Beast. I put her back to bed and a few minutes later, crying again, this time telling me that gaston was coming to kill the beast and we had to stop him. Wierdo. I don't know where she gets this crazy imagination from!
Well, I've been busy lately. For the last few months I've been coordinating the State FFA Convention with my sister Amy. What was supposed to be a fun part-time job has blown up into a stressfull job that we've both spent way too much time on! It is next week in Palmer, so I am really counting down the days until it's all over and done with on Friday night! It should be good though, we've put a lot of thought and preparation into it and I am excited to see all our hard work pay off and all the kids attending have a great experience. Just this job, combined with doing most the planning for the house has kept me up way to late for the last few weeks. I'll be glad when I get a little more free time, especially with the weather getting so nice. I was able to sneak away for 3 hours yesterday to go climb Lazy Mtn. There was still a lot of snow and the snowshoes made it a harder than usualy climb, but we stood on top of the mountain, sun setting at 9pm and man, it was beautiful. Days like yesterday remind me exactly why I'm living here! I hope to get a lot hikes in this spring. I've signed up for 2 mountain races, one the begining of June as a training run to Mt. Marathon in July. I really hope I get in Mt. Marathon. They do a lottery for all the first time runners, i find out tomorrow if I got in! If I did it will totally be the highlight of my summer! I've also been training for the Midnight Sun 1/2 marathon in June. I'm excited for this one too cause I'm doing it with my sister Rita who has never done one before. I think Amy will end up joining us too, so it will be fun to run it with my sisters.
Well, that's pretty much it from up North. It's so light now, warming up, snow melting and I'm excited for spring! Suprisingly though, a little sad to see winter go, wierd, I know. I was just hoping to get in one or two more days of skiing. Oh well, snow will be here again before I know it!
