Well, since moving back home to Alaska and our Governor, Sarah Palin being put on the Republican ticket, I have had lots of people ask me what I think about it all. I am no Sarah Palin expert, I just moved up here and when I did live up here she was still the "hockey mom" over in Wasilla. That being said, I will give you my take on it all. Up here it is a pretty hot debate, some people love her, some people HATE her, I mean really hate her as the Governor, and even more so as the Vice Presidential candidate. There is even a group formed that is called women against Palin or something like that. I also happen to have a family of very civic minded, politically involved people, all of which are very dissapointed in the selection of Palin for McCain's running mate. Dissapointed isn't even the word. You don't know how many discussions I have had to endure on this topic in the past month! The main reason people don't like her as McCain's running mate is her lack of experience. As far as I can see, she wasn't even experienced enough to be the Governor of Alaska, which is after all, one of the least populated states in the union. I live in Palmer, which is about 8 miles from Wasilla, and it is really like our sister city. That being said, both Palmer and Wasilla put together are probably only about 15,000 people. Being the mayor of Wasilla has never been considered a big deal, no one usually even knows who the mayor is. Being the Mayor of Wasilla does not give you the experience to run the state government, and definately not the experience needed to potentially run this country. Since being elected Governor, she has been very popular, but who wouldn't be poplular when you give away billions of dollars to the residents of the state instead of doing something responsible with that money. Her ethics have also been questioned when she appointed all of her old school buddies to positions after disbanding the so called "Good Ole Boys" club, and now with the Troopergate scandal that I'm sure you've heard about.
So, there it is, my two cents about Sarah Palin, not that it should matter, but for those of you that were curious. Can't wait until the election is over and we can all get on with our lives!

Lori,
Brad Strong here. good to see you guys are getting on with life and back in Alaska. with it being hunting season i am sure Richard is loving life. it looks cold already though.
hey, the experience thing could also be said about obama (and he is running for pres. not VP). and people love and HATE him too. although it may be a small town the a mayor is still a mayor, and a governer still a governer. they still have to make decisions that will affect people considerably. bill clinton's main qualification was being governer of arkansas which is puny compared to the size of alaska and doesn't have any where near the complex economic market. many people think clinton did a good job as pres. i would love it if the government gave the money back to the people that paid it to begin with, instead of using it for whatever they seem to think is right.
just the other side of the coin. tell Rich hello for me.
Brad S.
Lori,
I was looking at your blog and found Eric and Teeena. Well I went to school with Eric and we used to hang out every now and then. Small world huh. It looks like you are doing well. I wish that Eddie and I could come up and visit sometime. I love Alaska if it was closer to Utah I would definitely want to live there!
Thanks for your input...I appreciate it! I am quite excited for the vice presidential debate tonight...it should be quite telling. But I'm sure it must be unbearable up there with all the mixed opinions/conversations about Palin! lol!! You poor thing! :) Like you, I'm quite excited for this all to be over in 33 days so we can all get on with our lives. :) And I loved your blue berry picking get-up! Long Johns and snow pants for berry picking!? You are SO hard core!
well good to know. I have not decided how I feel about her, but with the choices we do have nobody looks like a "good" Choice. Pretty exciting stuff, I will have to admit this year is the most I have ever been interested.
I just got caught up on your blog. I'm happy to read about your take on Palin. I also have to say that Heroes is blowing my mind this season, CRAZY! If I were an Alaskan resident I would definitely get in on the Palin action and also run with you. It sounds awesome and I love running. Too bad I live Ohio, but good luck with the run.
love reading your posts, especially about your crazy long transition back to the mother land! Best of luck to all three of you!!
